The Pit and Pendulum problem was inspired by the Edgar Allan Poe story "The Pit and Pendulum" and it's about a prisoner that is trapped in a well and he is about to chopped by a pendulum. The question is weather or not he has enough time to escape in time before the pendulum slices him. We know it is 30 ft long , there are approximently 12 more swings and the rats take 1 minute to chew threw his bandages. We learned how to calculate the period of a pendulum, standard deviation, mean, range, how to make a frequency bar graph, how to use functions on google sheets, normal distributions of data, and how to analyze graphs. We even got see an actual giant pendulum and time it to see if he really could survive.
